AC Shaded Pole Motors represent one of the most reliable forms of asynchronous single-phase AC induction motors. By utilizing a copper ring or "shading coil" around a portion of each stator pole, the motor creates a delayed auxiliary magnetic flux. This produces a rotating magnetic field capable of initiating self-starting rotation. But why is this design preferred for domestic appliances and industrial ventilation systems in Saudi Arabia?
Unlike split-phase or capacitor-start motors, shaded pole motors do not require centrifugal switches, capacitors, or complex starting relays.
